Concept cars range from insanely wacky to wickedly awesome. That’s always been true, but the ones that always appeal to me are those that tend to be styled after Hot Wheels cars. To give you examples, take the following two:
Wierd folding concept aside, the BRB Evolution screams Hot Wheels. There are probably a hundred design problems with regards to making it actually functional and road-safe, but wow!
The MAG Magnetic concept vehicle boasts advanced technology that would use a magnetized road to propel this thing. Once again though, the packaging speaks volumes. It looks like one of the more futuristic Hot Wheels, but I’m sure you can see the resemblance.
Concept cars are supposed to do two things. They’re supposed to show advances and/or possibilities with new technologies, but they’re also supposed to inspire passion. The Dodge Challenger was one concept that didn’t necessarily push any technology envelopes, but wow did it ever inspire passion. I always look forward to new concepts, here’s hoping people keep designing cool ones and don’t spend as much time on some of the weirder, less interesting concepts that are out there.

That second car looks pretty neat. It looks like a slipper with a bottle opener near the heel. The seats look like comfy lawn furniture, however surviving a crash looks highly unlikely. Unless you were driving backwards and then that giant rear wheel would probably destroy anything in its path (or wake). I’m going to change my mind and say that I HATE this car.

That first car looks awesome. It is exactly the same as cars in a video game I played some 10 years ago, called POD.

The BRB is MENTAL! A car that folds to save on space is genius! Whether it can actually be built is another matter though. The mag car is beautiful in contrast to the BRB. That rear wheel could be a safety issue though!

Definitely cool. Does anyone know who pays these people to make concept cars. I would think big car companies…? Not sure and curious as to who paid for this one. -Brenda

chuck, that’s comes up into my mind, too. The good old arcade racing.
6 kouji // Aug 23, 2008 at 1:36 pm
that first car does look quite hot… nice… it’s too bad a lot of these vehicles never make it into production. but the fact that they inspire passion in onlookers is already a pretty good thing.

Oh man, I hope I will live to see those cars on the streets. I know they are just concept cars, but I guess in 15-20 years they could be bought at your local dealer

Aside from looking incredibly dangerous, those are two awesome looking cars.
16 Cartage Cars // Sep 1, 2008 at 1:23 pm

17 Greg // Sep 1, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Pretty sweet looking cars, a bit too futuristic for my taste tho…
18 Mikey // Sep 1, 2008 at 2:36 pm
I wonder if they will be using solar technologies in these upcoming models to fuel their electric motors?
19 Tina // Sep 2, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Occasionally I look here by and read the interesting and well written contributions. Today I would like to leave gladly a greeting from Thuringia in Germany!

I love the first one, it’s like the car on my video game which I had dream about when I was child. The second one look cute, make me surprised about people’s idea.
23 Ling // Sep 5, 2008 at 2:11 am
The first one is cool, but the second one looks like a baby’s crib.
24 Tool Designer // Sep 5, 2008 at 9:49 am
The BRB looks the nicest out of the two and it would be interesting to see if it actually gets built. The second car with its huge back wheel just looks weird and anyone driving it would look silly.
25 Billigt // Sep 6, 2008 at 7:07 am
Wow, that first car is just wicked awesome. Who’s the designer? I wonder how the wheels are supposed to work though, they just look like a metal frame with no damping.
26 Monavie // Sep 8, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Concept cars are great to look at. Speaking of the 2008 Dodge Challenger, I was at the mall when I first saw one. Didn’t even know what it was when I first saw it…but boy are they nice. I drooled over that thing for a long time.
27 Kevin SEO // Sep 9, 2008 at 4:26 am
They are crazy concepts - It’s not very often that a concept is actually rolled out the production line - one i can think of recently is the Honda Civic.
Great Post =)
Regards.

Well, i think the main problem is not of some sci-fi design the biggest problem is that the car should be eco-friendly. It should not hard our environment and these car makers should make these kind of cars.
29 RESP // Sep 10, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Those concept cars are too narley! Lets hope cars look like that in the future.
30 Internet Monitor // Sep 10, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Wow. I love the second one. I can’t picture driving down the highway in it - but I would like to!
The first one isn’t exactly my taste. Too “Fantastic Four”.
31 welly // Sep 11, 2008 at 2:56 pm
amazing design.. hope it can be realized on the future…
32 Chelosis // Sep 11, 2008 at 6:11 pm
These designs are definitely the coolest I have ever seen. I could just imagine myself driving that one on the first picture!
33 Jordans // Sep 12, 2008 at 12:58 am
Im a dodge guy, and when I first saw the Dodge Challenger concept I FREAKING FELL IN LOVE. than seeing them finally make it. (the back light they changed which sucks) other than that.. its like seeing my dream come to life. A lot of concept cars dont come out.. that should.
34 Jessie // Sep 12, 2008 at 8:51 am
Wow, the first is pretty hot.

Even though, I can not imagine me driving in something like that
35 TigerTom: Secured LoanShark // Sep 12, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Just make ‘em lighter and smaller so we can run ‘em cheaply, safely and easily. For most of your journeys, you don’t need half-a-ton of metal to convey you.
36 Getting Hit on // Sep 13, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Wow those almost don’t look real! amazing.

38 Clairvoyant // Sep 14, 2008 at 4:59 am
The first car is awesome, and the second one is very cute. I like them both. What a pity they are only concept. I hope someday everone of us can drive them.

40 Great Wall of China // Sep 14, 2008 at 11:07 am

41 Strata Coasters // Sep 16, 2008 at 5:38 am
the first car reminds me of a car which i played in a computer game. just imaging these cars going on moterways at 100mph
42 Jeff // Sep 17, 2008 at 2:52 am
I like the 2nd pic. It has the scorpion look. Interesting design.

All I wish is that this kind of cars can be actually used widely before our world is destroyed by human beings. Our entironment is facing many pollution problems now.

I kinda like like Mag Magnetic car. For some reason it makes me think of womens shoes and coffe
Really - I mean the part about coffe. Can any one see what I mean?
49 Crusoe // Sep 30, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Wow, gotta say that first car looks decades ahead of it’s time. You’re right, it really is some hot wheels style
50 Cataloger // Oct 2, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Sweet. I’ve been to the Detroit Auto Show several times in the past and it’s always amazing to see what they come up with.

52 Mustang Models // Oct 3, 2008 at 5:25 pm
I have got to get my hands on one of those! at least take one out for a test drive.
53 Don // Oct 6, 2008 at 2:19 pm
I love the new Hummer concept. Don’t know how long, if ever, before it reaches the showrooms. I bet it will have a pricey sticker also!
The Jeep concept I saw at Detroit wasn’t bad either. Srsly doubt that one will ever show up. Wonder why they make those cars that never hit the showroom floors?

i love them both, but i like the 2nd one especially. I think its the fluid lines and ‘chilled’ look it seems to pull off. Having said that tho, it really doesnt look like a car that would be safe to travel in
