I try to take a live and let live attitude towards as many things as I can. I find that days when I can let things slide, I have happier days. I also try never to criticize what people spend their money on because I don’t want anyone to complain once I start spending my money on ridiculous things. These are both fine goals, but sometimes I see, hear or read things that just drive me nuts. Here’s one.
Meet the Golden Touch Guitar Pick. I mean wow. Guitar picks generally cost anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar. If you’re really into exotic picks, you could spend as much $5 or $10. This thing is $190.
There’s another thing about a guitar pick. It’s like a pen. As soon as you get your hands on one, you lose it. They don’t sell these things in shrink wrapped plastic. They come in a bin so you can grab a few dozen at a time. Although I suppose that the person who figures $190 for a pick is a sensible price can probably afford to buy a few dozen anyways.
There are a lot of pretentious things in the world of music. Guitars and amps that cost two to five times more because of specific brands or features that don’t matter, but this pick takes that to a whole other level. If you own one of these things, you’ve got to upload a picture and pass along the link because I just have to see who would buy this.
There, now that this is out of my system… Back to more constructive endeavours…

I totally get you. I was called stingy more then once because of my attitude, so I practice to be quiet and choke all my comments.
But things like these drive me nuts. I can get that some people have money and they need to spend it, but why should they buy crap like these? You can play guitar with regular picks, hey, I played guitar with my fingers and nails. So the guy who actually buys this must be loaded + showoff, and that is main motive for his purchase.
And if I connect that to other people who would use that money to pay for school, clothes or food, I’m p***** like hell.

I’m afraid it’s all relative. What you take for granted may be an unheard of luxury for someone else. You seen the 70 foot Gibson guitar at Myrtle Beach in that new park that just opened? How many people do you think that would feed?

Ah..!I can get that some people have money and they need to spend it, but why should they buy crap like these? You can play guitar with regular picks, hey, I played guitar with my fingers and nails…isn’t that too easy and cheap??

Well, this is your typical American. Too much free time and free money. It kind of makes me sick.

These expensive and flashy things are for those who have money. They spend money to buy these things which are of no use. But for a music lover it can be very precious.

Actually, some prefer metal picks due to a different tone they produce when playing. Not saying that’s a reason to drop 2 bills on a gold one though…

190$ ???? For a price like this, it should have a built in mp3 player and do the laundry

eh? here at my side of the globe, for that amount you can feed a whole family for more than 2 weeks… that is just too absurd

Well, don’t take it too serious… Objects… Guitar picks are important in case when a great musician touched them

Some people have huge amount of money to spend. They can spend it on good chores. I don’t understand how they can spend money on such rubbish.

I say if you are going to buy something that expensive, it better not be that easy to lose! Leming said it right, it is money that would be better spent on charities.

There is always someone out there with more disposable income than you. Perhaps, that thing will help someone play better. Could be a status symbol and should be for that much.

As you read the comments of people who have no appreciation of gold guitar picks, remember how Louis Pasteur must have felt as he lugged his milk bottles from door to door. I believe sometime in the not too distant future the golden guitar pick will take its rightful place in the world.

I don’t think that anyone would seriously buy this to use as a pic!, It looks more like a sad necklace or something that an uncool dad would wear.
Things like this come and go, they never last long.

I’ve been telling my relatives all weekend to take a look at this text
