I’ve been to a lot of furniture sites and there’s one thing they all have shared in common. They’re all stuffy. FurnitureFromHome.com is no different. The script writing and the colour scheme tend to be very stuffy as compared to the other popular websites on the web.
They do have lots of variety though. They have all kinds of offerings in bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, they’ve even got you covered if you’re hunting for a storage bed.
I do like the multiple methods of selection on the front page. You can find furniture based on whatever criteria you like. Giving people those various cues can often help them hone in on what they’re looking for a lot faster than if they have to interpret their needs into a formal structure of your design.
One thing that isn’t necessarily a negative, but is definitely a wasted opportunity is their front page imaging. It does show off their furniture really well, but it falls flat because there are no prices attached to the images. Each set has a variety of options, so there’s no particular price for any given image, but there are options there. I think some visible discounts on multiple item purchases or the purchase of sets could go a long way too.
The website it completely functional and has lots of inventory, but they’re missing out because they share a similar look and feel as all the other furniture sites out there. There’s also a huge missed sales opportunity on the front page. With a bit of improvement, this website could likely increase their sales based on cosmetic changes alone.
