I never liked the term writer’s block when it comes to bloggers. While it may be accurate, I feel there are certain elements that make blogger’s block different than writers block. Regardless of my opinion or what you call it, there is one tool that you will find every blogger uses to stem the tide of their particular flavour of block.
The concept is simple and popular. Write stuff down. Not just anywhere though, write it down in a safe place that you can collect all of your ideas. For bloggers, that’s traditionally been a file on the desktop. Whenever you’re working and you get a great idea for a post, you should have something nearby such as a text document on your desktop where you can just jump in and write down the title quickly. It’s a very common suggestion that you’ll find in many articles that cover writer’s/blogger’s block. I thought I’d share my tool of choice with you.
I use Google Notebook. I had signed up for an account a while ago, but it just wasn’t meeting my needs at the time. Since then I added a piece of magic. The Firefox plugin for Google Notebook changes it from a mildly useful online application to something that I just can’t live without anymore. I like the way that each topic is separated visually, it really help when you’re working on stubs and snippets of posts.
Is this the perfect tool for you? Who knows
It has been working really well for me though. If you use something else, let me know, I’d love to hear what works for you.
