Give it back Google. A while ago I mentioned that due to an unfortunate series of events, I lost a bunch of my traffic. 2/3 to be more accurate. IN the meantime I’ve been watching my traffic hold fairly steady since the initial nosedive. I’ve even managed to slightly improve them. But enough is enough.
It’s been three weeks and while I know I have at least one more week to go, some concerns have begun popping up in my mind. The first one is that the traffic might not re-appear as quickly as it left. That would be a huge downer. I have worked very hard for all of that traffic and I want it back. The other thought that’s bothering me is that I have wanted to do 301s for my URLs to get them to be more search engine friendly. Unfortunately something inside keeps suggesting that now might be a good time given my situation. But I just don’t think I can handle yet another 30 days of waiting and I’m not 100% sure that wouldn’t damage some of my SERPs.
For now, I think I’m just going to sit tight until the traffic returns and keep putting the effort into the writing. That’s been paying off for me so far. Despite my dramatic losses, things have been on a slow upswing and it’s quite likely that it’s in direct response to the continued effort I’ve been putting in to writing. It’s been a very constructive distraction from working SERPs and tracking referral data.
So remember kids, if you’re not sure what to do with your blog when things aren’t going well, do something constructive.
