More PEI Concert Fallout

July 31st, 2007 · 2 Comments

It seems I’m not the only one who had a miserable time at the PEI Aerosmith concert due to poor organization. Anyone who bought VIP tickets were hosed way worse than anyone else. VIP tickets normally get you free drinks, free food, better washrooms and a premium viewing area. In PEI, the VIP section was behind the general admission area. There was no way to see anything from the VIP section which is why I saw so many VIP badges in the general admission area. Above that apparently there was a 45 minute wait for the washroom in the VIP section all day.

These people paid a lot of extra money so that they could have a great time at the concert and they effectively got the same shaft as everyone who paid 1/3 of what they paid. Needless to say those who I’ve spoken to who had VIP tickets are very, very upset. A friend of a friend apparently called the concert organizers and every published phone number had a full mailbox. It sounds like it’s not just a handful who had a bad experience in PEI this summer. The good news is that this does bode well for Halifax drawing better acts since everyone complaining about the PEI concert was using the Halifax Rolling Stones concert as a comparison. Everything that I overheard suggested that we did a great job at that concert (thought the weather wasn’t on board with the team).

It’s a bummer for PEI tourism though because I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth with regards to the province. I really have nothing against PEI, but anytime I hear anything about it, I’m drawn to that poor experience.

A good friend of mine was in the VIP section and had the same complaints. For the price of the tickets, they should have been on the stage!!

On stage is a bit much to ask, but somewhere within a football field of the stage seems reasonable to me :P
