Visa Design Contest

Payjr Visa is holding a Teen Credit Card design competition. We’ve all seen different Visa designs from various organizations and now here’s a company reaching out to its audience to help them design something that they will like.

The contest itself is simple, you submit a card design by uploading a picture that you think would look good on a credit card and you’re entered. The top prize is impressive indeed. It’s a Macbook and royalties on your design. Second place would get you a video iPod and third will get you a nano. Out of all of the prizes though, the royalties are the most intriguing prize. This has the potential to have a cheque coming to you on a regular basis.

It’s a great contest for Payjr as well. Reaching teenagers is difficult. It’s traditionally been the most challenging market to stay on top of. By allowing teenagers to both submit their own ideas for a good design and allow them to choose whatever design they like after the contest as a card.

The pre-paid Visa is also an idea I can also get behind. While I’ve spoken out on the hazards of credit cards in the past, the pre-paid cards serve to help teenagers use their money as they please while teaching them money management. All of this without the risk of accidentally getting in debt. This can be a great financial tool for teenagers to help them learn about the world of finances that they will enter in a few short years.

If you feel that you can create a design for a credit card, check out the contest. If you think you can do better than the current top designs, go for it!

I remember when credit cards were a luxury.. now they’re a necessity..

Agreed, that’s largely due to e-commerce though. Ten years ago a normal person could handle all of their basic expenses without one. Today though, things are more challenging without some plastic at hand.

Plus it’s a pain in the rear to have to deal with the pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters that come with cash.

I always stash those in a jar at the end of the day and periodically roll them, turn them into bills and add it to the cause of the month; vacation, hardwood floor fund, etc…

It would be great if you could order your own designs. Could come up with some nice ideas to “suprise” cashiers… ;)

It would be great, but it would be hard to censor ;)
