Jim asked me today about getting started building guitar pedals. After a short conversation I told him I’d send him some of the URLs that have been helpful to me. I thought I’d share them with everyone else while I’m at it.
- Tonepad - A great place to help a beginner figure out which pedals are too hard to tackle for your very first project.
- Geofx - Lots of great helpful tips.
- General Guitar Gadgets - Lots of projects here.
- Pedal Parts Plus - Good place to pick up a 3PDT and powder coated enclosure and other parts on the same shipping charges. I’ve ordered from them, e-mail responses were prompt, as was delivery.
- Digikey - They will have anything else you need. The website can be a challenge because they have so much inventory. Have bought from them, delivery was super fast.
- DIY Stompboxes Store - Lots of handy things to buy here. Haven’t ordered from them yet, but they’re on my list.
- Small Bear Electronics - Haven’t ordered from these guys, but I’ve heard tons of referals to them on forums.
- DIY Stompboxes Forum - Have a read here and see what others have done. Lots to learn from others and a good place to go and ask about your own pedal building troubles.
So those are the sites that I’ve found most helpful so far. I’ve made use of lots of other resources as well, but these are the ones I think I’ve gotten the most out of so far.
