The Simpsons Movie – No Spoilers

July 27th, 2007 · 5 Comments · Topics Of Interest

I just got back from watching it. Overall it was pretty good. Given its immense presence seemingly everywhere I turned, I was expecting a big movie. Well it’s not.

The Simpsons Movie is essentially a good, long episode. There’s some new 3-Dish animation style which you’ll either love or hate (I hate it, but can see how some might love it). Other than that, it’s a long episode that incorporates a bunch of common themes from years gone by. The jokes were funny, a few that even had me doubled over a little :) None were terribly memorable unfortunately.

I think any Simpsons fan will enjoy the movie and people who aren’t fans will still be able to follow the story. The jokes are funny, the characters are just the way we like them and I laughed pretty much the whole way through. So if you go watch it, check the hype at the door and just go watch a fun movie. That way you’ll enjoy yourself for sure :)

    Hey

    I saw it yesterday

Fell asleep actually!! It was ok though, I was just very tired.

I found that a lot of the jokes weren’t very Simpsons-y. I mean, the typical humour of the movie wasn’t the same as the tv show, probably less sophisticated

Haven’t seen it yet, but there was a good story on it on the news Friday evening. They talked a lot about the background of the show and how it came to be. It was very interesting. Oh, it was the ABC News’ Person of the Week: Matt Groening.

Personally I found the jokes very Simpsony, almost to a fault though. A lot of the humour had been used before which might be why it feels not quite as good.

Damn, this still hasn’t been released over here in Thailand. I want to see this movie, though I am sure it won’t live up to the massive advertising campaign that’s been behind it. They’ve really gone to town with that movie. But still, it’s got to be better than Transformers.

    Simpsons, roll out!

I don’t think anything could live up to all of the publicity it got. But it’s still a very good movie. The more I think about it the more of the jokes I remember and the more I like it :) I may have to go watch it again :)
