I spent some time this weekend beginning the build. thanks to the help of my friend Mo, I was able to get the aluminum square tubing cut and drilled. That went quite well and the planning was completely worth it. Then on Saturday, I tackled the far more complicated plexiglass elements. Some of them were simple rectangles, but the side panels especially were more complex. As we were cutting the slots to fit the plexiglass together, I realised that I didn’t actually have 1/8″ plexi. I had 1/4″ plexi. Not a big deal I thought. We just widened the slots and I figured that was the end of the issue. I was wrong.
What I didn’t realise was that the different width of plexiglass had a very significant impact on the sizing of my internal chassis. That had been set to a particular size and had bought bolts accordingly. So I couldn’t fit in the side panels. The solution I’m going to try and roll with is to try and find some 1/4″ x 4″ machine screws. I couldn’t find any at Home Depot or Kent. I had bought my 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ screws but when I went to get one size bigger, I found out that I had bought the longest ones there.
Hopefully I’ll find some nearby at a reasonable price. Then I’ll be able to move forward. For now, here are some pictures of the build so far:

I hope you post final pictures and it would be cool as hell if it could be a video.
