Doubly good news for me tonight. When I got home I got my second order of parts in the mail and I just finished soldering the last connections on the PCB for my Orange Squeezer. It’s still got some way to go before I know if it works or not. I’ve got six wires sticking out of the board going nowhere at the moment. They’ll all need to be connected as well as properly wiring the 3PDT switch which has nine posts on it. But it feels absolutely awesome to have finished the onboard stuff.
Included in my pile of parts that came in today is the enclosure that I ordered. It’s powder coated orange and looks pretty cool to my eye. Especially since I’ve got some pretty fun ideas for some graphics to put on it. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to go about that yet.
Most people will print their graphics on some clear stuff that you apply by sliding it over when wet. You then squeeze out any air bubbles and let it dry. Then you shoot some clear coats over it. But they usually do this over a base coat of baked enamel. I’m not sure yet if this makes sense to do on something that’s powder coated or not. I’ll find out this weeked though.
If you’re wondering what I’m going to put on it, it’s going to be a character from Penny-Arcade. It’s a character that only makes occasional appearances and relates to the name of the pedal, Orange Squeezer. If you can guess the character, please don’t post it as a comment as I want to ruin the surprise for anyone
