If you’re building your first guitar pedal, be sure that you buy yourself some de-soldering braid. If you’re anything like me, you’ll likely make at least one mistake and you’ll have to de-solder a joint or two. If you try to do this without de-soldering braid or some other de-soldering tools it’s going to be near impossible.
I’ll have more to post tomorrow including some pictures. So far so good. I’ve got 14 of 23 components soldered. It’s getting pretty exciting now. I’m still waiting on my second order of parts, once those come in, I immagine that things will really get rolling

What are you building?
23 components sounds like diode to ground distortion or a simple booster.
I recommend bread-board for prototypes - very efficient, makes sure you understand the schematic and gives you layout ideas.
Did you know there is a shop in Burnside that sells componenets?

Nice people.
Best of luck

Hey James, great to hear from you
I’m building an Orange Squeezer compressor pedal clone.
Someone had mentioned RAE as well as Jentronics. Unfortunately their hours of operation actually make it way harder for me to shop locally. They also don’t always have what I need whereas I can find vendors online that specialize in this kind of stuff. Finding a reasonably priced 3PDT switch is always a good example
They’re really hard to find at general electronics suppliers, but the pedal parts vendors buy big lots of them and can re-sell them at an affordable price.
As for the breadboard… Yeah, I know… I should have
Ah well, it’s more of an adventure this way
I’ll probably smarten up for the next build.
