Robot Design

June 18th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately. The primary reason? I’ve been designing a robot. Here are some shots of it done in Google Sketchup. I realise that Sketchup might not be the ideal tool for the job, but it’s free and was relatively easy to use once I got the hang of it.

It still has quite a way to go before I’m finished the design and then order up all the parts. The good news is that I’ve fixed about 76 mistakes while it was still on “paper”. That means I’ve already saved myself a ton of frustration come build time.

I don“t know the Google Sketchup tool, it seems amused although a little difficult.

There’s a bit of a learning curve, but that’s true for any 3D software. I’ve found Sketchup to have the easiest learning curve though :)
