Tribal Junction is a website that’s part family tree creator, part social network. While there have been a lot of family tree websites out there throughout the life of the web, Tribal Junction is merging some of the ideas behind social networking to improve family trees.
At the core of the system is an on the fly search of the database when you add a new person. By searching the live data, it can then prompt you with any family tree connections that might include the person you’re trying to add. If there is a match, then you can merge the trees. That means that you’ll be able to make use of other people’s research and in turn, they’ll be able to use yours. I have a few family members who do genealogy and there come times where the research leads into dead ends as access to records becomes geographically difficult. By merging trees, you can bridge those challenging gaps.

Beyond all of the great genealogy systems, they also allow you to contact other members of your family tree if they have accounts. While that may not seem like a big deal for your close family, it gets more important the more distant your connections get. When you merge trees, you can suddenly contact all kinds of relatives that you may have never been in touch with before. That’s a great use of the tool from my perspective.
For any other questions, they’ve got a well written FAQ, I like those
