Well we’re in for a new set of blog awards. Now while most blog awards, or any online awards for that matter are pretty cheesy and meaningless, this set of awards has one interesting aspect to it. They’re actually going to be awarded! Yes rather than being e-mailed a tacky image to slap on your website to let you know that you’ve won, they’re actually going to announce them at Postiecon. Postiecon is derogatory name for a conference for all publishers/bloggers who use the PayPerPost system.
One of the major downsides to the system is that you have to create yet another account… I’m really sick of that especially when it’s a situation like this where PPP is creating a spinoff. Why not allow us to log in with our PPP username/password. For that reason I might not end up voting 
It would just add my username/password to yet another database waiting to be compromised.
Complaints aside, the whole thing sounds great in principle. They’ve got a broad set of categories that almost cover the spectrum. There’s no category for web development blogs though… Am I the only one? It’s not just for blogs though. They’ve got a category for Best Blogging Host. I like that and I’d like to see one or two more along this line, I’m not sure exactly what but I’d leave that to the more creative people anyways 
They don’t have a whole lot of people who have nominated/voted yet but it’s still very very early. The website was only announced today and even that was done quietly. I’m sure the voting will be rampant within a matter of days.
I’m really curious to see the Worst Blog Of All Time winner. Imagine the marketing you could squeeze out of that lemon. My mind’s aflutter at the thought 
If anyone wants to nominate me for that one and vote, I’d really appreciate it. I would have a field day with it generating exposure for my blog with that kind of award.
