Pixel Protector is a products that you can buy to help your LCD TV with common problems such as Screen Burn and improper calibration. If you haven’t used a calibration system before, I can attest to their awesomeness. I had a calibration system with an old video card I bought once and I have to say that once I was through the calibration, the image sharpness and colour was much better than before. The DVD also comes with the ability to help get rid of screen burn. Screen burn can happen when you’ve got a specific image showing for too long in the same place. That’s why computers have screen savers, to get a moving image out there so you don’t burn in anything. I suspect that the DVD has something very akin to a screen saver.

With regards to the calibration, if you’re the kind of person who wants the best picture clarity and colour on your TV, this product might just be the ticket. You may have seen some computer screens re-calibrate themselves on their own, but they do that without any feedback. That means that it doesn’t know that your room is particularly bright, or dark. Not to mention the fact that if you have green coloured walls, then there will likely be a greenish hue reflecting from the screen. The set up in a proper calibration will be done according to your eyesight, your lighting and your viewing angles. The screen will be set up to your specific viewing needs, not pre-determined factory assumptions. That’s what’s gong to get you a great looking image.

Is it worth the $45? If you’re going to drop $3000 on a new LCD, then maybe you’ll want to spend a few extra dollars to make sure you get the best picture you can out of your new investment.
