Diamond Rings

Getting engaged is a big deal. It’s a major commitment to make that takes a lot of thought. Once you’ve decided to get engaged though, you may come to realise that you need to go hunting for diamond engagement rings.

I learned a whole lot about diamonds when hunting for my wife’s engagement ring. The only thing I knew was that it was going to be expensive. If you go have a look at Abazias’s ring builder you can see some of the decisions you’re going to have to make. The tools is really cool, except that it’s missing one of the 4 Cs. The 4Cs are Carat (size of the diamond) Cut (how sparkly it will be) Colour (completely clear to yellowed) and Clarity (all diamonds have inclusions of carbon, how big are they?). They have selectors for carat, color and clarity, but none for cut. Fortunately though the cut information, as well as lots more is available once you click on one of the diamonds.

This website’s actually quite helpful since you can start to get a feel for where the tradeoffs are going to be. We’d all love to buy a “perfect” diamond, but that comes at a cost. Since most of us are under some budgetary constraints we’re going to have to make some compromises somewhere to find something that works for you. Decide what you think she’d like best. Does she want the biggest rock you can afford no matter what it looks like or is she the type of person who’s going to want an absolutely flawless diamond even if it means that it will be smaller. Most likely you’re going to end up somewhere in between.

The one thing that I learned though is that no matter what ring you buy, if she’s the right one, it won’t matter. She’ll love it for what it means, not for what it is.
