If you want to do business with Fusepoint and you’re a technical person, you had better get out your sales speak dictionary. The website is littered with sales jargon that tries to make very basic services sound impressive and critical. I’ve encountered this many times in my career both on the web and in person with sales people. That experience certainly helps to decipher much of what’s said, but some of the items could have easily been described in more understandable terms.
Managed infrastructure and hosting are some of their main services. They’ve got data centres in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. That’s very significant with the increasing amount of legislation moving to prevent data from moving across the border from Canada to the US. The Patriot Act has changed the dynamic of data storage for Canadians and made Canadian hosting companies first choice for many large Canadian organizations.
One problem though is that they don’t have prices listed for even basic colocated hosting services. While is makes sense to force people to request a quote on complex professional services, their more basic items really shouldn’t require a quite request. If I was shopping for colocated hosting, I would skip past them because there are so many of their competitors that list their prices and service details right up front.
Fusepoint also offers application services and disaster recovery services. This means that you can pretty much get anything you’ll need from them so that’s their strong point. If you have a need for a complete solution, top to bottom, Fusepoint should probably be on your shopping list. Without any of their prices listed I can’t really comment with regards to each service one by one. Another advantage though is the aforementioned Canadian data centres. That’s becoming a bigger issue for many, so if this is important to you, Fusepoint might be a match for you.
