With that last sponsored post I just broke the $1K barrier for overall earnings. When I started this adventure I hadn’t really expected to reach this amount but I have to say I’m thrilled. I began it all as much an exercise in learning about monetization as anything else. But as time wore on and the money went from a few bucks to substantial amounts, the motivation ramped up.
What have I learned? Tons. I stirred up some controversy relatively early on and I learned about a dozen lessons out of that one. I learned that earnings really are proportional to effort. As I’ve been putting more effort into my blog and promoting the blog, the revenue has increased as well. It’s not necessarily proportional but there is an unmistakable correlation. I’ve learned that sponsored posting is a great way to generate some funding but it’s not a way to get rich anytime soon. I’ve also learned that you better like what you’re writing about because if you don’t you’ll give up quickly. I now know that working to involve yourself in like minded communities really does work. Not only do you learn from them, you’ll likely acquire more readers.
That’s the short list of what I’ve learned in the last 3 months. As nice as the cash is, the lessons have been invaluable. While I know that 1K over 3 months is a pretty poor performance for many bloggers out there, it’s a great start for me and I’m personally quite proud of it.

Congrats!! I think that is a very good start to any blog. Just keep it up and you will be hitting 1k a month in no time.

Thanks for the encouragement Shaun. While that’s certainly a target I’m shooting for, I’m going to re-evaluate my strategies and income streams to reach that. PayPerPost is my main stream of income at the moment and I’m topping that out. I’ve got lots of other ideas, but I’ll have to find something to supplement what I’ve got coming in from them to reach that goal.
Here’s hoping I manage to get it done in “no time”
