I was driving down the road the other day when I saw a 30 foot tall inflatable bunny on top of a used car dealership. If television has taught me anything it’s that in order to have a successful used car dealership, you must have a 30 foot tall inflatable something on top of your building. Which lead me to question why? Well the only obvious answer that I can come up with is that it attracts the eye and makes you notice the place. After all, if you saw a 30 foot tall inflatable object on top of a building would you think that it was anything but a used car dealership?
From where I sit, this clearly must work. The fact that inflatable objects sell cars is a little abstract, but if it didn’t work, why would people still be doing it. There’s clearly an expense in all of this so the ROI must be worth it. So what’s the lesson? Be visible.
I’ve spent a lot of time over the last month visiting and commenting on other blogger’s blogs. All in an effort to improve this blog’s visibility and read up on interesting topics. While it’s been a fun exercise, it’s hard to envision it as a solid long term strategy. So I will put this out to the community in general. What is the blogging equivalent of the 30 foot tall bunny?
