As I look at more ads on PayPerPost I’m seeing very interesting correlations between the Page Rank and Alexa Rank that advertisers are looking for. Some people are choosing high Alexa Rank in correlation to PR while others are choosing very low Alexa Rank with regards to PR. Now the two are completely unrelated and for me to suggest that a correlation exists is a little preposterous, but if you’ve got a very low Alexa Rank, there are pretty good odds that you’re going to have a decent amount of backlinks which will ultimately translate into higher PR. I mean all that traffic has to be coming from somewhere right?
There could be a number of factors at play here. Perhaps the advertisers are well aware of the gaming tactics that one can employ to boost your Alexa Rank and are therefore purposely setting very low Alexa Ranks which are much harder to fake. However I think it’s more likely that advertisers are still getting used to the system and once they’ve had an op or two hanging out there long enough with no one able to take it, they’ll chalk it up to experience and try again. Then again, I might just be getting wickedly low traffic considering my PR. Who knows.
