My wife and I went over to Aldo in the Halifax Shopping Centre a couple of nights ago with a pair of shoes that had been giving her problems. I’ll spare you the gory details, but I can say that we were in a grey area so we weren’t sure if they’d be able to help us. I’m happy to report that after my wife explained what had happened the person helping us went to her manager who thought, as we did, that what happened to her shoes shouldn’t have happened. The great thing about all of it was that all we had to do was explain the situation. They took it from there and started helping right away.
That’s what good customer service looks like in my book. You don’t even need to ask, they offer once they realise what the situation is. You don’t need to be a regular customer (we are at the chain but go to various stores) or need to ask to speak to the manager. The people on the floor are well willing to help you and know what to do. That comes from a mix of solid organizational culture and hiring good people who understand what you’re trying to accomplish as a company. Great job Aldo, we both appreciate it.
