After some concern over the effects of the upgrade, I bit the bullet and did it. The results were largely seamless. There was at least one small glitch. The Ultimate Tag Warrior wasn’t redirecting properly when you clicked on a tag. It kept giving me 404s. But the support forum helped me out a bunch when I found the following post:
* eddie
* CommentTimeJul 8th 2006 editedshawnblog: does ?tag=sometag work for you? If so, here’s some advice for both you and ketsugi:
Go to Options->Permalink and click “Update Permalink Structure”. I think that’ll rewrite your .htaccess, and that’ll allow rewriting to take place (so that apache will change ?tag=foo to /tag/foo).
Thankfully someone had already experienced exactly what I was and had found a solution. After finding that little tidbit of information, it only took me a minute or two to fix and I’m now off and running and free of any new glitches. There still are some lingering ones that were there pre-update like the formatting of the page when you click on a tag. I’ll patch that up soon though.

Besides the little bugs to your plugins how do you find the upgrade?

The upgrade itself was pretty smooth. As for how Wordpress 2.1 compares to 2.0.7, there are a few niceties, but many are transparent so it’s not a “WOW!” upgrade.
The autosave is working in the background, but I’ve been fortunate enough not to need to use it. The faster queries are noticeable and do make a difference. The spell checking I ended up getting out of Firefox so I can’t really speak to that at the moment.
