Point Pleasant Park Cats

February 25th, 2006 · 1 Comment · Halifax

We don’t go down to Point Pleasant Park very often. We’ve traditionally been Public Gardens people. Given where we’ve lived over the years, the Public Gardens have just crossed our path far more often. But as we’ve started scoping out locations to take wedding pictures, we decided to check out Point Pleasant to see if there were any suitable spaces. Though we didn’t really find too much that worked out for us we did some across some cats.

Point Pleasant Cats

These cats make the park their home, but what’s odd about them is they seems to stay on the shore. I’m not a cat expert but I have seen many cats in my lifetime and from my experience they tend to greatly prefer the forest over a rocky shore. But for one reason or another, these cats tend to live on the rocks next to the seagulls. They all seem to get along quite well. We learned a bit about these cats from a poster on a pole near where the cats live. Apparently there’s a family of them and they are fed by volunteers. The volunteers ask that you please not feed the cats.

If you are a cat lover and can easily get to Point Pleasant Park, I highly recommend that you drop down to the shore at the end of the driveway near the loading dock. Check out the cats because they are absolutely adorable and have a great backstory. Every cat should have a good backstory. I’m thinking something involving ninjas for my cat’s backstory. I’ll let you all know when I’ve fully developed it.
