Blade servers are currently the best solution out there for computing density. We actually have a few at work inside a chassis and are using them as small PC servers. They’re great little machines for our purposes.
The one major problem with blade though is their one major advantage. Density is great, but if you have an older server room, your cooling and electrical capacities may not be up to snuff. The advantage though is that you can free up a lot of physical space in your server room by increasing density computing.
Clear Cube offers blade servers of their own. They have a very impressive list of clients. Interestingly though, they pitch them primarily as desktop replacements. I find this interesting because of the ever-flowing shift back and forth from thin clients to full powered clients.
