Las Vegas is a really interesting city to me. I’ve never been there but there’s one major event there every year that I’m hoping to attend. That’s right… The Las Vegas Webmasterworld Pubcon. It’s turned into a huge conference with lots of great speakers and events with all the major search engines sending representatives.
The only other thing I know about Vegas is the insanity of Las Vegas real estate. Property in Vegas is bought and sold at a rate that’s just nuts. When you compare the skyline of New York of the 1950s with New York today, you’ll notice change, but you’ll also notice familiar skyscrapers. Not in Vegas. Multi-million and multi-billion dollar buildings are bought, torn down and rebuilt like nowhere else I’ve ever heard of.
I certainly don’t think that Las Vegas would be good as a permanent home for myself though. First of all, I’m not a big fan of heat and sun. So there’s a clear and obvious problem there. Las Vegas has also long outgrown its ability to self-sustain its own population. That’s not as big a deal for me as the heat, but still would be a factor should the opportunity aris to move there for one reason or another. Our weather here in Halifax is certainly not perfect, but I’ve grown used to it and I like it
I’ll probably visit Vegas someday shortly though. Either for the conference or as a fun vacation for Colleen and I.

Funny, I just returned from my first trip to LV. It was hardly a priority vacation destination for me but when it came to planning a non-solo trip, it was pretty convenient what with the packages and all the sights pretty much all being on a 3-mile strip. It was a pretty wonderous place - there’s no where else like it in the States. I guess that’s what everyone says about it. =P
