The commercial for Gears of War is in my personal opinion the best video game ad to date. If you don’t believe me, check it out.
The song is from the Donnie Darko soundtrack and is a remake of the Tears for Fears song Mad World. You can check out the Darko version by Gary Jules here and compare it to the Tears for Fears version here.
I like both of them but the Gary Jules version certainly has some added depth to it. The mix of the song and the imagery in the commercial is really impressive. I won’t bore you with my thoughts about what it all means to me as I’m sure everyone who watches it will have their own interpretations. But if you like video games and/or cool commercials, check out the video.

Thanks for blogging about this. I keep forgetting it’s a video game but the ad catches my attention each and every time. You’re right about the feel of the Gary Jules version – and the Gears of War clips are so fitting to the song.
