So Halifax got hit with a surprise storm just before rush hour last night. It made for traffic chaos. The roads were very slippery and then when the power went, the lights stopped working. Not that it mattered that much as people were doing very poorly, blocking the intersection as the lights went from yellow to red.
After needing over 30 minutes to get from the Computer Science Building to the Henry Hicks A&A where Colleen works, we thought best of trying to make it home. We decided to go visit some friends downtown. We got there, ran up to Sobeys, bought some pre-made pizzas and had an awesome meal with friends.
We decided to head out around 9pm and it still took a bit over an hour to get home. I couldn’t believe there was still moderate traffic on the Bedford highway at that point. The Yaris performed well enough. The low gear was pretty good to work with. The fact that it was light made it easier to stop. Still unhappy with all of the other issues, but I’m glad that I didn’t find any new problems driving in some pretty aweful weather,

There is some construction on the Bedford highway at one point, which contributed in things being really backed up. There were apparently more problems overnight, which resulted in some traffic being detoured around a specific area this morning, I believe due to some downed power cables.
