So just a few days ago, I wrote about the poor Pontiac G5. Now we’ve found out that GM plans to axe the Pontiac brand. So yes, I’m totally taking credit for that.
Obviously the GM leadership read my piece and thought better of continuing the Pontiac line. The only unfortunate part is that apparently the G8 GXP is a good car. They finally built something good, but it’s too late.
The story of the fall of the US auto industry is ultimately going to be a languishing thing for later generations to read about. The fact that it drug on for so long as a limping, wounded version of its former self will likely shock them.
In the meantime, I’m going to basque in the glory of being a tremendously influential blogger who can kill off a multi-national brand.

The way GM are going it will be lucky if the company have anything worth buying soon. I think the US motor industry has to realize you can’t produce cars no one wants to buy.
Coming from the UK we saw our car industry going down the can several years ago and now we have almost no British cars is that a bad thing probably not?

I remember that. I had just posted a comment on that post, and then about 10 minutes later, I read about GM’s plans for Pontiac in the news. I thought it was some kind of weird co-incidence.
Turns out you have blogging superpowers.

I express great admiration to your blogging prowess and influence. I also commend GM for reading written stuff about their cars. This company has a sensitive management because they listen to complaints and suggestions. More power to you!

GM has had plenty of time to catch up with the foreign car-makers. They suck. They fell behind. They’re going to get what they deserve.

LOL, (probably) just a coincidence but still has to be a great feeling. Don’t know a lot about cars but I always thought it was interesting that Europe imports everything from US except cars. They go in opposite direction. Probably this will be even more so from now on…

Now that the Pontiac brand is done, does that mean that my Sunfire is now a collectors item?
The G5’s may be a flop but you have to admit that the new Camero’s are looking pretty good.

GM should better work harder in their marketing strategy. For sure, they are capable of bringing what best to the country

Haha, I’m sure you inspired them. But it’s actualy not that funny once you think that they need to discontinue a lot of stuff just because noone can afford it…

people have been pessimistic on investing on luxury cars. Pontiac being axed tells us how bad the car industry is nowadays. GM should take a look at their strategies again.

GM management may be getting what they deserve, but that’s not much consolation for the workforce.

Seriously, how many people do you know that drive Pontiacs? That brand was tired and old, it was time for it to go.

GM is lost. but there is no fault of their cars. it’s the weakness of their management

It had to happen. GM had too many brands competing for the same piece of pie. Something had to give.

GM is a lesson in complacency ruining a large successful organization – It is driven by the top management..

I had a ‘92 Pontiac Grand Prix and it was a P.O.S. so I am not sad that Pontiac is defunct.

That’s really to bad. Seems they are gonna cut the Hy Wire too. Good thing Honda is still making a Hydro car.
