So there’s a really neat thing going on now called RockStartup. It’s basically a show about a web 2.0 (whether you like that term or not) startup. They’re taping it all, offering up some HD content for you to watch on that wicked new monitor or LCD TV you’ll be getting for Christmas.

I’m particularly interested in this because this web 2.0 is essentially starting to look a lot like web 1.0 but with a bit better business models. Not great business models… But marginally better. At least people are approaching venture capitalists with a business plan this time around.

I’ve watched a bit of it so far and think I’m going to keep a watch on this one and add it to my podcast subsrcibe list. I’ve got a lot of entrepreneurial spirit at heart, just missing a bit of the bravery. So far it’s soso, but I’m relaly interested to see the progression through episodes. I think it’s really going to end up telling an interesting story. Regardless of whether I’m watching the story of the next YouTube (huge success) or the next Gegy (company I worked for which ended up tanking hard).

I have to say that I feel like I’ve seen a lot of this all before so there’s a huge sense of skepticism since most bubble companies burst. But the thing is, a ton of people cashed out and made a substantial amount of money. I actually know a guy who was a co-founder of a small company that got bought out and he managed to earn a reasonable sum from the sale. I never bothered to pry as to the exact details.

All in all, all of this really is churning the entrepreneurial spirit in me ever more.
