Major Update On Kartbahn Track - Jan 1, 2007

I just got back from Kartbahn. It was a blast! This is the first time that I’ve gone to their new location in Bayers Lake. I had been to their old location in the north end of Halifax a few times. The new track is alright, but they’re got a sealed and finished concrete surface. It’s really slippery and makes driving tough. If you’re into drifting and stuff like that, then you’d probably really enjoy it, but I’m a “pulling Gs in the corners” kind of guy so that track isn’t quite to my tastes. They do have a few rough patches in one of the tighter corners that lets you take it a bit faster but the patches aren’t continuous so you really have to watch what you’re doing.

Despite not being a big fan of the track, I still had tons of fun. There were some slower drivers so I go the thrill of cutting a corner just right to make a pass. Overall it was really just one great big adrenaline rush. I really like go-karting. I had a chance to do it in the West Edmonton Mall a few years ago and had an amazing time there. The track was sticky and they have a long straightaway with big digital readout that tells you your straightaway speed as you approach the turn.

It seems a little expensive, $13 (With $5 membership or with group of 6 or more) for an 8 minute run, but it’s well worth it as an every now and then kind of thing. I’ve become a fairly sedentary person over the last bunch of years. I used to get my adrenaline rushes from sports, but I don’t really play any anymore. Go-Karting is a really nice substitute.
